Survey: Mamaroneck Top Town for Job Seekers

The Web site NerdWallet used census numbers and information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Town of Mamaroneck ranks among the top 10 in New York to find a job, according to a study released by consumer advocacy site Nerdwallet.com.

Mamaroneck comes in at middle actually—No. 5—putting it on the short-list of places that rank highest for jobseekers due to three contributing factors: population growth, mean income, and low unemployment rates. First on the list is Rockville Center, Long Island. The other Westchester county placeholders are, in this order, Eastchester (2), Harrison (4), White Plains (9) and Ossining (10).

The unemployment rate for the state overall is on the mend, at 7.6 percent now down from 8.4 percent in January 2013.

In Mamaroneck, this number drops much lower to 4.9 percent unemployment.

Mean household income in the town is $85,801.

Population growth in the town went up 2.7 percent from 2008 to 2011.
