App Developer, Formerly of Mamaroneck, Sells Studio

Cohen's company developed an app for the film 'Ted.'

A former Mamaroneck resident has sold his app development company to a strategic digital agency and will head up its application division.

Ten 5 Studio, founded by Ben Cohen, who now lives in New York City, was acquired by Vertic, which has offices in Copenhagen, New York, Seattle and Singapore.

Vertic's customer portfolio includes SAP, Microsoft, Sony, Philips and Siemens. Cohen started Ten 5 Studio in 2011 working with clients such as Universal Studios, Skype and LG.

The company was recognized for developing an app, which was downloaded 16 million times, for the launch of the Universal Studios film Ted.

Cohen said it was an exciting time to become part of the Vertic team.

"Their presence in Asia, in particular—where there are incredibly sophisticated mobile solutions—means we can take Ten 5 Studio to a whole new level," he said.

Vertic CEO Sebastian Jespersen said Cohen's company had a lot of potential.

"It ranks up there with some of the best boutique shops around in terms of quality of app development," he said.
