Viewfinder: Tourism at Home

Trails, views, and culinary offerings right here at home.

Still no vacation plans? Well, not to worry. Where is it written that you have to board a plane, pack a car to the brim or spend thousands of dollars in order to enjoy a summer vacation? In a recent Philadelphia Inquirer article, writer Lini S. Kadaba suggested that frequently even what is meant to feel like an exotic trip abroad can feel a little like home. If that is indeed the case, then why not just skip all of that packing and enjoy a staycation?

There are, without question, a myriad of things in the lower Hudson Valley that can rival some popular vacation destinations. From spectacular rock formations, to beautiful vistas; outdoor concerts and galleries featuring outstanding artwork; recreation to arboriculture, it can all be found in Larchmont and Mamaroneck. So for the hiker, the swimmer, the nature lover, the tourist, consider the town and village when making your vacation plans. Whatever you choose to do, have a terrific time and happy trails.
