New Circulation Desk at Larchmont Public Library dedicated

A new circulation desk is the first of what could be many physical-flow improvements to the library.

A new adult circulation desk was unveiled late last week at the , dedicated in honor of Diane Courtney who served as the library’s director for 16 years.

Courtney was responsible for 36 building-related projects, including the creation of a long-range, building-maintenance program as well as involvement in the planning and fundraising for the $3.2 million renovation of the Children’s Room and building infrastructure.

The gesture was made for Courtney’s “many years of exceptional service to our library and community,” said Board Chairperson Pamela Tillinghast Dubitsky.

Last renovated in the '90s, the physical space of the library is now the topic of discussion for the board.

“People come in to borrow materials and to read books and magazines,” said Dubitsky, “but they also come in to do Internet research, to work on their laptops, and to conduct job searches. We want to be sure that the physical space of the library accommodates the changing needs of our patrons.”
