The Gong Show: Live on Stage

The stage show Gong Show Live will play in Mamaroneck on Feb. 19 to launch its new theatrical tour.
Gong Show Live (@GongShowLive on Twitter) will be presented at the Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m.  It is the only Sony-authorized stage presentation of the iconic 70s TV show, The Gong Show. It showcases a modern-day cast of offbeat, professional talent acts that have appeared on America’s Got Talent, The Late Show with David Letterman, 30 Rock, My Strange Addiction, among others.
Producer Leslie Gold, whose Radiochick Corporation holds the rights to stage Gong Show Live events in the U.S., said, “The original Gong Show’s variety, humor and surprise elements made it not just memorable, but set precedents. There’d be no General Larry Platt, no America’s Got Talent, Big Brother or other current reality/talent TV shows without The Gong Show.  Gong Show Live brings all of the fun and lunacy of the beloved TV show to an interactive theatrical stage production, and there’s truly nothing like it.”
In addition to its talent acts, Gong Show Live features comedian Ray Ellin as host/emcee; three judges  (Chuck Nice, Leslie Gold “The Radiochick” and Dan Naturman) known from their work in stand-up comedy, TV and radio; casting by Robert Russell, known for the New York casting of reality TV shows including The Bachelor, The Apprentice,  Big Brother, The Restaurant, Moment of Truth, and NBC’s Phenomenon; and the four-piece Gong Show Ten Orchestra, led by veteran drummer Sandy Gennaro (Cyndi Lauper, Bo Diddley, Joan Jett).
Tickets for the Mamaroneck shows are $32 each and are available now at the theaters’ box offices, by phone or online.
On Feb. 19 there are two shows: 5 and 8 p.m., Emelin Theatre, 153 Library Lane, Mamaroneck. Contact information: 914.698.0098 and www.emelin.org
