Music Along Sound, Inc, celebrated five years of bringing families with young children to make Music Together with the residents of Meadowview Assisted Living at the Wartburg, on Saturday, September 22, at 11:00.  Babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers, along with their mothers, fathers, and babysitters, gathered in the lounge.  Residents of Meadowview, including the grandmother of two of the children, sat in the chairs around the perimeter of the room.  Together they sang, danced, and played instruments, which the children helped to distribute and collect.

Music Along the Sound, directed by Jean Young, first brought families to Meadowview five years ago, at the suggestion of a parent who was then involved in the program.  Her mother, then a resident of Meadowview, was delighted to have her grandson and the other families in the program visit weekly to enjoy music together.

The classes, originally held on Wednesday mornings, were taught by Marnie Foster-Marks, a registered Music Together teacher.  Saturday morning classes, taught by Marilynn Seits, also a registered MT teacher, were soon added, enabling working parents to attend with their children.  Currently, the Saturday class is taught by Mimi LaValley, a registered Music Together teacher and a composition student at SUNY Purchase.

New families are welcome to join the classes. Interested families may register at MusicAlongSound.com.  Fall classes begin Saturday, 9/29.  The cost for a ten-week term, including a songbook and 2 CD set, is $190.  Music Along the Sound sponsors intergenerational Music Together classes also at Willow Towers in New Rochelle, King Street Home in Rye Brook, and the Osborn, in Rye.
