FOUR GENERATIONS ART EXHIBIT

The Larchmont Public Library presents “Four Generations”, an exhibit featuring works by four generations of artists from the Cammer family in the Library’s Oresman Gallery from May 3, through May 27, 2011. The exhibit is free and open to everyone during normal library hours. There will be an artist’s reception celebrating the artists on Saturday, May 14, from 2:30pm to 4:00pm. The reception is also free and everyone is welcome.

The exhibit features the art of four generations of artists from this one local family presented in a variety of mediums. Natalie Bachrach Baker (1913-1998) studied at Radcliffe College and the Art Students' League. She created oil paintings, ink drawings, and water colors, and was a popular teacher in her own studios in Larchmont and Mamaroneck. Wendy Baker Cammer studied with her mother, Natalie, until 1958, studied and practiced biochemistry until 2003, and then took up painting at home in Larchmont and at the Westchester Center for the Arts in White Plains. She has exhibited in Westchester, including in previous shows at the Larchmont Library. Michael Cammer studied art with Natalie Baker, and also at Mamaroneck High School, Brown University, and the Rhode Island School of Design, and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting at Columbia. He has exhibited in Rhode Island, Manhattan and Brooklyn. His careers include public school teaching and Microscopic Digital Imaging. His daughters, Rachel Cox Cammer and Natasha Cox Cammer, are students at New Rochelle High School and the Albert Leonard Middle School.

Each of the artists in the family brings a unique perspective to their art and it is rare to feature the art produced across four generations of a single family in one exhibit. Additional information about each of the Cammer family members and their art can be found on the following websites:
