Fichtel Lecture at Woman's Club on Biblical Women in Art

One of Larchmont's favorite lecturers, Mark Fichtel, has selected about 25 mostly famous paintings from 500 years of Biblical women in Western art for a presentation at the Larchmont Woman's Club, Friday, September 17.

In addressing interesting aspects of the paintings, the stories behind them, and some remarkable (and often irrelevant facts) about the artists, Mr. Fichtel will also show how the cultures of various periods throughout history reflect an ever-changing view of woman. Mr. Fichtel, a long-time resident of Larchmont, began his serious pursuit of history at Princeton University. After a successful career in finance, he now devotes his efforts to his entrepreneurial ventures and the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Center for Continuing Education, where he is Co-Chair and an occasional teacher. As he is doing for the Woman's Club, he also converts his LMCCE classes into shorter lectures.
