Samples Given at Area Farmers Markets

People were busily buying fresh vegetables, baked goods and hummus Friday at the Down to Earth Farmers Market in New Rochelle.

Market host Amy Gardiner was giving away samples of Sohha Greek Yogurt along with plum tomatoes from Alex's Tomato Farm and cucumbers from Dagele Brothers Produce.

"I also made lavash sprinkled with Za'atar spices" which Sohha also sells, Gardiner said.

Larchmont's Down to Earth Farmers Market is open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays in the Metro North parking lot off Chatsworth Avenue. Some of the things vendors will be selling include seafood, eggs, vegetables, fruits, baked goods and meat and poultry.

Gardiner said some of the other markets have corn roasts scheduled. Check downtoearthmarkets.com for special events.
