RESTORATION EFFORT:

I just returned from Orienta. Rushmore Avenue has power. There is a crew at Bleeker and Orienta where the main feeder for most of Orienta is located. They expect that "main fuse" to be repaired in the next few hours. Subsequent to that they will be working on the secondary feeders and side streets. We are trying to get another crew from Con Ed in the area.

There are other pockets of the Village of Mamaroneck that remain out: Birch Hill Lane in the Heights; Shore Acres & Soundview Drive; Tompkins Avenue and Colonial Court. We also are seeking a crew to get to those areas.

Emergency shelters:

VFW (1288 Boston Post Rd.-Larchmont-Mamaroneck Senior Center): Village/Town warming Center

Hampshire Country Club:  Warming center; showers are available; recharge cell phones and computers; some availability for overnight cots, etc...

Mamaroneck Public Library:  Open

We will keep you aware as new information is available.

Con Ed will be distributing dry ice today beginning at noon at the Westchester County Center at 198 Central Ave. in White Plains.

Village of Larchmont (from the village website):

In the Village of Larchmont, 1,891 Con-Edison customers have had power restored, while 483 remain to be connected.  In addition, all polling places in the Village have power and will be ready for Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 6. We also have been advised that some areas may ultimately have to be de-energized in order to power up an adjacent area so your patience is appreciated as recovery continues.  Please be sure any remaining outages are reported directly to Con-Edison at 1-800-75ConEd or www.coned.com. Thank you and stay safe!

Town of Mamaroneck (from the town website):

Power has finally been restored to the Town Center and town government will resume normal operations there Monday morning. All other Town services will follow their normal schedules this coming week. 34 percent of residents are still without power, down from a high of 70 percent. Only seven roads remain closed. Con Edison plans to distribute dry ice tomorrow. You may call 381-7810 to obtain information on the Town's response to Hurricane Sandy and town services.

What are you talking about? I live on Rushmore and DO NOT have power. Only parts of Rushmore do - maybe most, but not all. Please get all the facts straight.
