Although only a few gas stations were open in Mamaroneck today, the line at Sunoco on Mamaroneck Avenue was not quite as daunting as it's been in previous days, suggesting, perhaps that demand is waning, if only slightly. Police were directing traffic in and out of the station, and cones were set up on Hoyt Avenue to help keep cars in an orderly line.
The Hess Station on Mamaroneck Avenue, however, was closed today. Mamaroneck Police cars were parked there to inform passers-by not to stop.
