A cacophony of police and fire sirens could be heard as far down as in Mamaroneck last night, as fire trucks from companies throughout Westchester County and New Jersey drove slowly down the avenue during the annual fireman's parade in the village.
The heat of the day didn't deter the crowds from lining up on Mamaroneck Avenue—some in camp chairs, others standing and craning their necks to take pictures—to see members of their local government, firefighters and Knights of Columbus chapter as they walked by.
Several kids stood holding a sign that simply stated, "Honk if you drive by," to which sevearl fire trucks obliged. The deafingly loud siren would inevitably make the same kids scream with delight for its shock value alone.
Glad so many came out to say thanks for these people of our communities.
