“Every time we give out groceries, we feed 1,200-1,300 people, 1/3 of whom are children. New families register with us every time we are open.  With the colder weather, we are already seeing an increase in the number of families needing our help, and we expect to see this need rise during the holidays.”

“Although there is a great need for help, we live in a caring, cohesive community where we look out for one another and give assistance where help is needed,” she added.  “This food drive is a wonderful example of neighbor helping neighbor.”

All of the food collected at the food drive will be given directly to people living in Larchmont and Mamaroneck.

Volunteers are needed at each of the four food markets from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p..m. on Nov. 17 and 18 to collect, sort and load food, and from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. to load the food that has been collected into trucks. Volunteers are also needed on Monday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Community Action Program (CAP) Center, 134 Center Ave., Mamaroneck, to unload the trucks and sort the collected food.
