Continuing Ed Center in Mamaroneck Names New Exec

The Center for Continuing Education in Mamaroneck has named a new leader.

Blythe Hamer was named executive director, effective February 3, to take over from Sandie Conner, who is stepping down.

Hamer, a Mamaroneck resident, is a marketing professional, having formerly worked at American Express, Oxford Health Plans and Gerson Lehrman Group. She served as Hommocks PTA president and was a member of the School Board Selection Committee. Hamer is a board member of the Friends of Larchmont Public Library.

"I thrilled to receive this honor," she said. "I see the center as playing a vital role in keeping the social fabric of our community strong. Continuing education offers people a way to stimulate their minds and connect with others who have similar interests."

The Center for Continuing Education is a non-profit organization, independent of the Mamaroneck Union Free School District, though it rents classroom space in the district and in other local institutions. The center provides enrichment and educational classes to adults residing in Larchmont, Mamaroneck and surrounding communities.

Enrollment is currently underway for the spring term beginning in March. New courses include a French film series, Kitchen Essentials for Men, Garden Design for Home Gardeners, T'ai Chi, a lecture on Roosevelts of the Hudson Valley, Spanish for native speakers and Video Use for Businesses. Enroll online at www.LMCCE.org or call 914-698-9126 for more information.
