In a note to residents posted on their Facebook page, the Larchmont Gardens Civic Association (LGCA) warned the community about several break-ins that occurred on Friday, Dec. 7.
The note states that, "two houses in the Larchmont Gardens neighborhood were broken into yesterday. They kicked in the front doors and took jewelry and computers. One house was alarmed and the other had a large barking dog but those things didn't deter the burglars."
Gardens' resident Heidi Schuster Helfst said that she had noticed a suspicious driver in the area last week and reported it to police, but that she remained concerned about the increasing occurrences of crimes like the gunman who targeted men and women walking home from the train station earlier this year.
"[It's] Pretty scary that the alarm and dog didn't dissuade them at all," she said.
Editor's Note: An earlier version of this article indicated that Village of Larchmont Police had been contacted regarding details of this crime. Larchmont Gardens does not fall within their jurisdiction; Patch apologizes for the error.
So much for the high level of services accompanying the raised taxes there.
You are correct. I apologize for the error. I have contacted the Town of Mamaroneck Police and am waiting for more details. Best, Stefani
