UJA-Federation of New York's Culture Circle Kicks Off 2014 with Bestselling Author Jonathan Tropper

UJA-Federation of New York's Culture Circle kicked off 2014 with bestselling author Jonathan Tropper. More than 140 women came to hear Tropper, author of The Book of Joe, One Last Thing Before I Go, and This Is Where I Leave You. The gathering, which took place at Congregation Emanu-El in Rye, also heard from Cantor Mia Davison of Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale. Davison played the part of a cantor in the film adaptation of Tropper’s book, This Is Where I Leave You, which is due out in September starring Tina Fey and Jason Bateman. The group had the opportunity to learn about the vital work of UJA-Federation and the 4.5 million people it helps each year. “It’s impossible for me to tell you all the ways we make miracles happen — I’d be standing here until next Sunday,” said Westchester Women’s Philanthropy Chair Lois Kohn-Claar of Scarsdale. “But I find the numbers amazing, like the 2 million New Yorkers who benefit from the work of our beneficiary agencies.”
