Mamaroneck High School Shakespeare Festival Opens March 4th

The Mamaroneck Shakespeare Players, directed by Mamaroneck High School (MHS) PACE teacher Zachary Moore, opens its week-long 2014 Shakespeare Festival Tuesday, March 4th. Featuring The Taming of the Shrew and Hamlet, Mamaroneck High School continues its rich tradition of Shakespeare, with nearly 100 students involved with the company this year.

New director Mr. Moore says, “I'm so proud to have been a part of the extraordinary Shakespeare tradition in Mamaroneck this year.  It has been such an amazing experience to work with students who are so willing to dive in and wrestle with these incredibly complex texts.  Their passion and willingness to strive for greater and greater depth was inspiring. Working on these productions with these students has reminded me that one of the greatest things about the works of Shakespeare is that there is always something new to discover.”

The performances run Tuesday, March 4 – Sunday, March 9. All performances will take place at the Hommocks Auditorium. Tickets are $8 for students and $12 for adults. Reserved seating tickets are only being sold online, via this link: www.tinyurl.com/mhsshakespeare2014 . General admission tickets will be sold at the door half an hour before the performances begin and at MHS during lunch (11:00 a.m.-noon) in the overpass, March 3-7.
