Larchmont Gets Into a New York State of Mind

For the second consecutive year, the Larchmont Public Library is challenging adults to read. The 2014 challenge begins on Friday, June 20 and continues through Friday, August 29. This year’s theme is “New York State of Mind” so the challenge is to read your way through New York State. To make this easy, the library has divided the State into five distinct regions; Long Island, New York City, the Catskills and Hudson Valley, the Adirondacks and Thousand Island Seaway, and Central and Western Region. Further, the library will provide each participant with a map of these five regions with suggested books in both fiction and non-fiction that pertain to each region. The map will be available in the library beginning Friday, June 20. All that’s required is that each participant read books that are set in the various regions of New York State and they’ll earn raffle tickets toward prizes! The prizes include a selection of wine from Larchmont Wine & Liquor, concert tickets to performances at Caramoor, Museum passes to popular museums such as the American Museum of Natural History, books such as The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbook, and a lot more. Prizes are provided by local area sponsors and will be awarded by random drawing on September 2nd. There are also summer reading games for teens and kids!
