Central Cares Conducts Holiday Mail For Heroes Program

Military personnel currently serving in Afghanistan have not been forgotten by students at Central School.  A number of them recently participated in Central School’s Central Cares Holiday Mail For Heroes program by making holiday cards to distribute to them.  Melissa Aversa from Central Cares organized an event on Friday, December 6 for the students to give their cards to representatives of local veterans organizations to mail to military personnel in Afghanistan.  Burt Corwin, Commander of VFW Post 1156 in Larchmont and Ed Murray, Commander of American Legion Post 90 in Mamaroneck, NY) accepted the cards from the students and forwarded them on to Chaplin Daniel Werho for distribution to personnel from the 10th Mountain Division

The Central School students who participated were all Girl Scouts.  (Most of them were actually ”Daisies” just beginning their scouting career.)  Commander Corwin and Commander Murray commended the girls and their leaders for thinking of those in harms way during the holiday season, and assured them that their efforts would be very much appreciated.
