Larchmont Resident Austin Hearst Elected to Save the Children Board of Trustees

WESTPORT, Conn. (July 14, 2011) — Larchmont resident Austin Hearst was elected to Save the Children’s Board of Trustees at the global humanitarian organization’s quarterly board meeting on June 16, 2011. Hearst previously served on the board from 1998 through 2005. He will serve this new term through 2017.

Hearst has worked for a variety of non-profit organizations, including the Board of Councilors of the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communications, the board of Pacific Crest Outward Bound, as well as on the executive committee of National Outward Bound. He served on the Advisory Council for the United States Committee for Refugees. Along with his role with the Save the Children Board, Hearst currently serves on the board of the Hearst Corporation.

“I’m delighted that Austin will be returning to the Save the Children Board. His hands-on knowledge of our programs, his willingness to visit and engage with some of the most complicated and dangerous countries where we work, his knowledge of the rapidly-changing media scene and his creative and entrepreneurial approach to issues will all contribute to strengthening our work  for children in need,” said Charlie MacCormack, president and CEO of Save the Children.

Hearst joins a distinguished team of 33 trustees representing the academic, corporate, entertainment, financial and political sectors. For a full list of Save the Children Trustees, go here. http://www.savethechildren.org/site/c.8rKLIXMGIpI4E/b.6146407/k.B258/Board_of_Trustees.htm
