Henna, Assessment Review and Possible Thunderstorms

Here are a few of the things you need to know in Larchmont and Mamaroneck for Thursday, August 29, 2013.

1. Learn about the art of henna and henna design at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Larchmont Pubic Library, 121 Larchmont Ave. The free program is for fifth to eighth graders and will be lead by Margie Nugent, an FIT graduate and henna artist. Because some people’s skin may be sensitive to henna, a parental permission slip is required to be signed in order to do this program. Permission slips can be downloaded from www.larchmontlibrary.org or picked up at the library. Register in person or by calling 914-834-2281.

2. The Board of Assessment Review of the Town of Mamaroneck will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in Conference Room C of the Town Center, 740 W. Boston Post Rd. The Board will enter into an EXECUTIVE SESSION to deliberate on complaints filed with the Board of Assessment Review.

3. The National Weather Service is predicting isolated showers and thunderstorms after noon Thursday. Otherwise, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 81. Thursday night calls for isolated showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m. The low will be around 65.

4. ICYMI: A Mount Vernon police officer faces felony charges for falsifying overtime records. See what he allegedly gave up his career for here.

5. Tides: Thursday—high at 7:04 a.m.; low at 1:26 p.m.; high at 7:28 p.m.; Friday—low at 2:10 a.m.
