Solve a 'Crime,' Sunny Weather and Jobs

Here are a few things you need to know in Larchmont and Mamaroneck for Thursday, August 15, 2013.

1. Learn a little bit about how police solve crimes at the Larchmont Public Library at 4 p.m. Thursday. Kids age 8 to 11 can help Larchmont Detective Matthew Irvine decode clues of a "crime" and find out whodunnit. Register in person
or by calling 914-834-2281. The library is located at 121 Larchmont Ave. in Larchmont.

2. Thursday is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation for Roman Catholics. St. Augustine's Church, 18 Cherry Ave. in Larchmont, has Masses scheduled for 6:45 a.m., 9 a.m., noon and 7:30 p.m.

3. I don't know about you but Wednesday's weather was pretty good. And it looks that Thursday will be, too. The National Weather Service's forecast for Thursday calls for a high near 79 under sunny skies. Thursday night will be mostly clear with a low around 59.

4. ICYMI: We have some job listings in case you are looking for a job. See them here.

5. High tide on the Long Island Sound Thursday will be at 5:26 a.m. and 5:53 p.m. Low tide will be at 11:45 a.m. Thursday and 12:53 a.m. Friday.
