MTA Park & Ride, Choice Discussion and Willie Nelson

Here are a few things you need to know for Wednesday, October 2, 2013.

1. Metro-North will operate additional trains on the New Haven Line starting Wednesday, October 2, raising the capacity to 65 percent. This is due to an increase in power capacity to Con Edison's temporary substations, but Metro-North cannot operate full train service at this time. Also because of the reduced train capacity, the MTA is offering a free shuttle bus to the Pelham Bay Park No. 6 subway stop from the Park and Ride lot at Orchard Beach (Pelham Bridge Road/Shore Road and Orchard Beach).

2. The first in a series of discussions by Ileen Gottesfeld staarts at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 2 at the Larchmont Public Library. The discussion series is based on choices. The characters in the books selected for the series make choices with which you may agree or perhaps disagree. The first featured book is Fragile Beasts by Tawni O'Dell. The discussion will take place in the Village Center, 121 Larchmont Ave.

3. It will be unseasonably warm Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service, with sunny skies and a high near 85. Wednesday night will see mostly clear skies and a low around 60.

4. ICYMI: Willie Nelson got his 'dillo back.

5. Tides: Wednesday—high, 10:24 a.m.; low, 4:46 p.m.; high, 10:38 p.m.; Thursday—low, 4:56 a.m.
