DESCRIPTION:The Larchmont Public Library presents &ldquo\;Palette &amp\; 
 Press: Plein-Air Paintings and Intaglio Etchings&rdquo\;\, an exhibit of
  landscape paintings and etchings by Catherine Caulfield Russell\, in th
 e Library&rsquo\;s Oresman Gallery from February 2\, through February 28
 \, 2012. The exhibit is free and open to everyone during normal library 
 hours. There will be a reception for Ms. Russell on Thursday\, February 
 2\, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the Oresman Gallery. The reception is also 
 free and everyone is welcome.\nCatherine began painting and selling her 
 works at age fourteen.&nbsp\; After graduating from Jacksonville Univers
 ity with a B.F.A.\, she received the 1978 Graphic Art Award and the Cert
 ificate of Honor in Printmaking.&nbsp\; The Florida Times applauded her 
 work on several occasions. One of her early accomplishments includes bei
 ng commissioned to paint a mural for the United Brotherhood of Painters 
 Union in their Manhattan headquarters on Fifth Avenue.&nbsp\; She expand
 ed her horizons as an assistant to master sculptor\, Judith Brown\, who 
 she assisted with the completion of a bronze sculptures displayed in Tif
 fany&rsquo\;s windows\, Christmas 1980.&nbsp\; In 1981\, Catherine&rsquo
 \;s paintings were exhibited in the Greenspring Art Gallery in SoHo\, Ne
 w York City.\nAfter receiving her Master&rsquo\;s Degree from Queens Col
 lege\, she was hired to teach in their School of Education/Continuing Ch
 ildren&rsquo\;s Art Program.&nbsp\; She is a licensed New York State tea
 cher. Catherine has studied and exhibited at The Victor D&rsquo\;Amico I
 nstitute of Art\, The Art Barge\, located in Amagansett\, New York.\nCat
 herine is an active member of the Montauk Artist&rsquo\;s Association\, 
 Long Island New York and is a member of numerous Artists&rsquo\; Guilds.
 &nbsp\; Her most recent achievements include being a recipient of &ldquo
 \;The Nelda A. Howell Award&rdquo\; for 2011.&nbsp\; Presently her paint
 ing &ldquo\;The Lake&rdquo\; is exhibiting in the New England Landscape 
 Invitational in the Lyme Art Associations Gallery. Catherine continues t
 o follow her love of printmaking as a member of The Center for Contempor
 ary Printmaking.&nbsp\; Ten of her small works are presently on display 
 in London\, England.\nPublications which featured her artwork have been 
 Dan&rsquo\;s Papers and The Montauk Pioneer.&nbsp\; &ldquo\;Perfect Day&
 rdquo\;\, an oil painting\, was featured as the cover of Dan&rsquo\;s Pa
 per.&nbsp\;\nCatherine Caulfield Russell continues to be inspired by nat
 ure and paints primarily en plein aire.&nbsp\; Her paintings are complet
 ed ala prim.&nbsp\; She is not only inspired by nature but loves to live
  outdoors while creating and capturing the ever changing face of nature\
