“Fiddler on the Roof Jr.” is the Mamaroneck Avenue School Theater’s 16th annual production. This production will showcase the talent of over eighty Mamaroneck Avenue School students, participating as cast, crew, and band members. Some are even alumni students who come back to help out every year.
This junior company production stays true to the original which premiered in 1965 and won nine Tony awards, including “Best Musical”. It is set in Russia in the village of Anatevka in 1905 and centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. The show addresses timeless themes -- Love/Family, Tolerance, Tradition and Getting through life “gracefully” in spite of difficult times – through many popular songs including “Tradition”, “Matchmaker”, “If I Were A Rich Man”, “To Life”, and “Sunrise, Sunset”.

More About Mamaroneck Avenue School
The Mamaroneck Avenue School is part of the Mamaroneck Union Free School District, which covers an area of over eight square miles and includes the entire Village of Larchmont, the unincorporated area of the Town of Mamaroneck and most of the Village of Mamaroneck, excluding Rye Neck. It serves grades k - 5 and has a student body of about 590.
In addition to the core curriculum, Mamaroneck Avenue School offers art and music classes, including band and orchestra; ESL and accelerated reader programs, health and physical education.
