The Larchmont Democratic Caucus announced their nominations today for the March 20 election.
Update: 4 p.m. - Mandell said that he decided not to run again, in part, because he never felt like a "natural mayor." "I have never been a very gregarious person. People who knew me for a long time were quite surprised, in fact, when they learned of my candidacy just a couple of years ago," he said in a statement to the press. Mandell went on to say that although he never felt like he would be mayor for the long-term, he did feel that he could benefit the village with his business and financial expertise during a difficult economic period during 2009-10. "The budget for 2012-2013 is shaping up in much the same way … in fact, even better. We will have no problem whatsoever meeting the challenges of the tax cap legislation this year or …

Last night, Village of Mamaroneck Mayor Norm Rosenblum and Deputy Mayor and Trustee Lou Santoro were sworn-in at the Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck.
Almost a month after they were reelected, Village of Mamaroneck Mayor Norm Rosenblum and Deputy Mayor Lou Santoro were sworn in at the Emelin Theatre by former village justice Roger Sirlin. Sirlin, a cousin of Rosenblum, is one of many family members who have served the village in years past. Rosenblum is a lifelong resident of the village; this is his second term in office as mayor. Santoro, also a lifelong village resident, is not the first in his family to serve in political office; his Uncle Busty served as a former village manager.

With 82 percent of the districts reporting, Judy Myers and David Gelfarb have apparently won their races for County Legislator.
It was still early Tuesday night at Morgan's Fish House in Rye. No poll numbers were available yet and the room filled with the Democratic candidates for Rye City Council, their friends and families hummed with nervous energy. Incumbent Judy Myers was also there, talking with supporters before setting out for stops in Mamaroneck and New Rochelle later in the evening. For just a moment, Myers was pensive about the race in District 7. "This has been the culmination of a lot of work over a lot of months," she said. Myers marveled just for a moment. "We've been at this since the primaries in August." The only thing left was the waiting. Myers seemed almost relieved election day had finally come. Now it was up to the voters. Rye City …
According to unofficial results, Norm Rosenblum has been re-elected as Mayor of the Village of Mamaroneck. Louis Santoro has also been re-elected as a village board member.
It was a joyful night at the Mamaroneck Elks Lodge as incumbent Mayor Norm Rosenblum unofficially announced his re-election as mayor of the village. Both Rosenblum and his running mate, incumbent Louis Santoro who was running for the village board seat, were in the lead by 56 percent over their opponents, with 14 of 15 districts reporting results as of 1 a.m. Both candidates ran on the Republican, Independent and Conservative party lines. “I was surprised at the strength that we got in areas that were Democratic,” said Rosenblum, continuing, “This is a confirmation of our policies—the voters of Mamaroneck don’t appreciate backroom politics.” “We will push what’s good for the taxpayers—you have to have people that can afford to live here…
The Democratic party members gathered at Roasted Peppers on Mamaroneck Avenue to watch the polls tonight.
With a full house of Democratic candidates and their supporters gathered at Roasted Peppers in Mamaroneck tonight, the atmosphere was jovial yet tense as the incoming poll numbers were tallied. “Turnout was good at our districts,” said Democratic Party Campaign Manager Randi Robinowitz, referring to Districts M 17 & 23-Orienta and R 3 Shore Acres in Mamaroneck. “I think for an off-year election, it’s good,” she said. Scott Dufault—a third-generation lifelong village resident and attorney who is running for a Mamaroneck Village trustee seat—has a B.A. and J.D. from American University, and has served as a Friends of the Mamaroneck Public Library Board member and as a recreational and travel soccer coach. A newcomer to politics, Dufault said…

Voters were turning out today in the area, with more expected for the evening.
People have been exercising their right to vote all around Larchmont and Mamaroneck today, with a steady turnout reported at several different locations. Although afternoon seemed to be slightly less hectic than reported in the morning, election workers said they expected the number to swell during the “commuter hours” as people drop in after they get off the train, on their way home from work. As of 1:30 p.m., Town of Mamaroneck (TOM) District 6/Larchmont District 1 had 46 total voters, said Election Inspector and Larchmont resident David Ciminesi, who was working at the Chatsworth Avenue School in Larchmont. “We don’t expect a huge turnout,” he said, estimating that approximately 5-10 percent of registered voters would hand in their …
Today is Election Day—what changes need to be made by our leaders to make Mamaroneck and Larchmont better?
As voters, change is a big part of why we vote for new leaders.
