Many eateries will offer special prix fixe dinners on Valentine's Day including Larchmont's Anna Maria's ($75), Chat 19 ($75), Pascal's ($35) and Mamaroneck's Bangkok Thai ($24.95), Red Plum (price not available) and Zitoune ($48).

Reserve early. Valentine’s Day is the second busiest day of the year for dining out according to Nation’s Restaurant News, a trade publication (Mother’s Day ranks first). 

Because Valentine’s Day—celebrated on Feb.14 since Roman times—falls on a Monday this year, most restaurants that usually close on Mondays will be open at least for dinner.

Nearly all restaurants plan to supplement their regular menus with seasonal or cupid-associated specials such as oysters.  Many will provide special desserts such as chocolate dipped strawberries.

Larchmont Valentine’s Day Celebration Guide

Anna Maria's.  Open on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14 from 5  to 11 p.m. Will serve a prix fixe menu at $75.  The regular menu will not be offered.  Special desserts and gluten-free dishes menu substitutes are planned.  833-0555.  

Augie's.  Open on Feb. 14.  Serving regular menu on Feb. 12-14. Giant platters (a signature occurrence at this restaurant) for two to four people will be offered plus "The Kitchen Sink", a combination of penne with shrimp, sausage, prosciutto and chicken in a tomato cream sauce.  Take-home bags are a virtual guarantee. 834-3800. 

Bellizzi.  Open on Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Serving regular menu on Feb. 12-14 plus specials on Feb. 14 including Heart Ravioli and special desserts. Chocolates will be distributed at the end of the meal on Feb. 14.  This children-friendly eatery will have a balloon artist go from table to table and a kids room will provide children’s activities.  833-5800. 

Chat 19.  Open on Feb. 14 with four-course, prix fixe dinner.  Appetizers: Oysters Rockefeller, shrimp cocktail, corn bisque with crabmeat.  Salads: strawberry salad, mixed greens.  Entrees: plantain crusted tilapia, sliced steak, linguini with white clam sauce, free range chicken.  Dessert: strawberry shortcake, apple tartin with vanilla ice cream.  $150 per couple includes a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label.  A la carte menu available.  833-8871. 

Cosi.  Will be open on Valentine’s Day until 9:30 p.m.  The regular menu will be available. 834-9797. 

Encore Bistro Francais.  Open on Feb. 14 at 5 p.m.  The regular menu will be available. 833-1661. 

Espana. Open on Feb. 14 from noon to 10 p.m.  Serving regular menu on Feb. 14 plus specials: pan seared hake with asparagus and mushroom risotto with romesco sauce; lobster, leek, seven-mushroom crepes; saute foie gras; surf and turf (grilled filet mignon, jumbo prawn with black truffle and mushroom sauce) and strawberries and cream.  833-1331.  Serving regular menu on Feb.12-14.  

Fuji Mountain.  Will open for dinner at 4 p.m. on Valentine's Day.  The regular menu will be offered.  833-3838.

Lusardi's.  Open on Feb. 14 from 12:30 to 10:30 p.m.  Serving regular menu on Feb. 12-14 including gnocchi ($19), sauteed calf liver ($23), rack of lamb ($29), assorted seafood in shrimp bisque ($29),  rib eye steak ($32), and veal chop ($32).  Romantic setting. 834-5555. 

Palmer's Crossing.  The regular menu will be offered on Feb. 14.  833-3505. 

Pascal's.  Will open for dinner at 5 p.m. and will serve a three-course (appetizer, entree, dessert), prix fixe dinner at $35 to include seafood soup, veal stew and calf's liver. Regular menu also available. 834-6688. 

Plates.  Open on Feb. 14. This restaurant has had two marriage proposals on past Valentine's Days.  It will plant an engagement ring in a giant chocolate "ring ding” dessert for anyone interested.  Four-prix fixe menu includes house-made confections.  Cost: $80.
