What Grade Do You Give ConEd?

By EOB today, outages in Westchester should be resolved, said ConEd. Could that wait have been shorter?

Almost one week after a ferocious wind and rain storm hit and greatly damaged our area, some 47 Con Edison customers in Larchmont remain without electricity as of this morning. The storm was "the most destructive rain and windstorm to hit New York City and Westchester in decades," according to Con Edison, and we all know it sure felt like it.

Harbor Heights and Orienta residents were hit quite hard, as were some areas of Larchmont and the Town of Mamaroneck. Traffic lights stopped working, people struggled to keep their food fresh and basements flooded all around. Everyone was desperate to get their electricity back, but other areas sustained more damage and customers were asked to be patient until their turn came.

Starting with 173,000 outages in the metropolitan area, ConEd has restored power to over 168,000 customers, the company reported today, and expects to have the remaining 4,500 back in service by tonight.

Looking back at the entire week, do you think Con Edison could have acted more efficiently? Or do you think they did the best they could considering the circumstances?

If you could give the company a report card, what grade would it get?

Take our survey and let us know!

It could be, at least according to 57 percent of participants, who gave it an F. Twenty-nine percent gave it an A and 14 percent gave it a B.
