Update 11/14 - Del Vecchio, 35, is survived by his family; his wife Melanie (Gironda), son Milo DelVecchio, parents, Robert DelVecchio Sr. and his wife Loretta and Patricia Creadore DelVecchio, mother & father in-law, Sandy & Mario Gironda Sr., and siblings, Todd DelVecchio (Jessie), Michael A. DelVecchio, Mario Gironda Jr, Matthew French, Robin McCarron (Patrick) and Erica Lotten (Doug), according to his obituary on the Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home website. 

A visitation will be held Tuesday between 5-9 p.m. at Coxe and Graziano on 767 E. Boston Post Rd. in Mamaroneck and a funeral mass on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Vito's Roman Catholic Church on 816 Msgr Goodwine St. in Mamaroneck.

Update-5:20 p.m. - According to his Facebook profile, Del Vecchio graduated from Harrison High School in 1994 and was a captain of the Mamaroneck chapter of Sea Tow Western Long Island Sound, a marine assistance organization that responds to non-emergency calls. He also listed Yonkers-based Empress Ambulance Service as an employer.

Update: According to a statement released by Steve Altieri, the Town of Mamaroneck Administrator, the worker killed earlier this morning was Robert Del Vecchio.  He had been a town employee since 2002.

Westchester County and Town of Mamaroneck police are currently investigating.  

"Bobbie was a favorite member of the Town family and our deepest sympathies go out to the members of Bobbie's family," said the statement.

A Mamaroneck town worker was killed this morning in an accident at the town's highway department/recycling yard.

Larchmont Mayor Joshua L. Mandell said the worker was struck by a truck. Mandell said that the facility would normally be closed for Veterans Day, however, town workers were using the day to do leaf pick up.

The facility is operated by the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Joint Sanitation Commission, which oversees the recycling and garbage/rubbish collection service for the residents of Mamaroneck and the Village of Larchmont.

The accident took place before 7:30 a.m. and is under investigation.
