Larchmont Travel Agency to Give Away Grant to Deserving Charity

Although owner Barbara Nichuals has acquired several other travel agencies during her 25 years in Larchmont—including Bronxville-based Gramatan Travel, Eastchester Travel and Earlfield Travel in Pelham—she has not lost sight of her roots.

Over the years, Nichuals has donated to charities such as the Junior League of the Sound, the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation and the , in support of the communities where she did business. This year, she’s expanded her scope to include all of Westchester County in her latest charitable endeavor.

Bayside Travel is accepting applications through July 31, 2012 for a $2,500 grant to be awarded for funding of a specific program (not operating expenses) for any Westchester-based charitable organization.  Of the applicants, five will be chosen as finalists and will be voted on by the public on Bayside Travel’s Facebook page.  The grant will be awarded in September.

Guidelines are as follows:

1. Provide the name and a short description of the applicant organization, including mission statement and organization’s goals.
2. Describe the specific problem or opportunity to be addressed by the grant.
3. Describe the program method you would use to get the desired results, the budget and how you would fund any amount of the budget over the $2,500 grant.
4. Explain how the grant would help achieve the program’s objectives.
