After receiving almost 40 submissions from local Westchester charities for the $2,500 award, the grant committee had the difficult task of whittling the number down to five finalists. A brief description of the programs of these finalists was put on the Bayside Travel website and then community members were asked to vote either on Facebook, or by email, for their favorite charity to win the grant.

The Songcatchers After School program won by a landslide. The program engages the services of talented high school students to share their musical gifts by volunteering to teach children who could not afford what they themselves were able to have.  The Bayside Travel grant will provide professional musicians plus a counselor, to train and guide the teen volunteers on how to teach music to the talented student children.
