Schultz has often noted the importance of educating the whole child.

“It is in Catholic schools that we have the best opportunity to truly educate the whole child in mind, body and spirit. An authentic Catholic school is filled with an entire community committed to the belief that growing closer to our Lord and being well prepared academically are main priorities. Academic excellence and spiritual growth compliment one another.”

Schultz comes to SJP with a wealth of experience in public and private education.  In his most recent experience as the headmaster of St. John Academy for seven years, Schultz guided the K-8 Catholic School to become a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and saw an increase in its enrollment by 20 percent.

Before joining St. John Academy, Schultz was a 7-12 principal of Ogdensburg Free Academy (Ogdensburg, NY); a high school principal at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School (Ravena, NY) and a high school assistant principal at Camden High School (Camden, NY). He also taught social studies for five years at East Syracuse-Minoa High School (East Syracuse, NY) and taught social studies for two years at Delaware Academy High School (Delhi, NY) where he began his educational career in 1992.

Schultz earned his Bachelor’s of Art from LeMoyne College and he received a Master’s in Education from Cortland State University. He also received his Master’s in Administration (CAS) from Oswego State University. Mr. Schultz is permanently certified to teach social studies in New York. He holds a New York State SAS Certificate and a New York State SDA Certificate. He also holds a Post Graduate License Certificate from the state of Virginia.

Schultz and his wife, Kristen, are the proud, busy parents of seven children.  When asked how he liked the new principal a third grader responded,  “He‘s awesome! He’s my Dad!”

All of Peter and Kristen’s elementary aged children attend SJP.
