January 8 Becomes Anthony Lividini Day

It is a way of recognizing the community member's contributions, officials say.

"Happy Anthony Lividini Day!" is the chant you may soon be hearing every year from now on, as January 8 has officially been declared Anthony Lividini Day by the Town of Mamaroneck, the Village of Mamaroneck and the State of New York.

Lividini, the manager of Brewer's Hardware in Mamaroneck, was honored Friday night by the Mamaroneck Chamber of Commerce at their First Annual Installation Dinner at Mamaroneck's Beach Point Club.  In addition to honoring Lividini, the dinner also marked the introduction of several new officers to the chamber.

Mamaroneck Town Supervisor Valerie O'Keeffe, Town Councilman Ernest Odierna, Mamaroneck Village Mayor Norman Rosenblum and State Assemblyman George Latimer were among the dignitaries present, and each announced the official declaration of Mr. Lividini's new holiday.

Lividini has worked at Brewer's since 1979 and has served on the Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years.  In addition, he has also been involved with numerous community projects and charitable works over the years, such as the Mamaroneck Avenue Task Force, the Mamaroneck Avenue Street Fair and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Several members of the chamber and of the community spoke highly of Lividini and his contributions during the reception.  Mayor Rosenblum described him as a "true example of the prime volunteer---who never takes credit."  Jennifer Graziano, of Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home and president of the Chamber of Commerce, noted that upon her joining the chamber, she "learned very fast, if you need anything done, ask Tony."

In a prior interview with Graziano, she referred to Lividini as a generous person who is "always ready and willing to donate to any cause," and who "embodies the spirit of the friendly village," (the "friendly village" being an important part of the community and chamber's image.)  She also noted that he was chosen for the honor by a vote of chamber members by a large margin, reflecting his popularity in the chamber and the community.

Among all the praise, Lividini was remarkably modest about all of the accolades.  Regarding the dinner, he said that the chamber had wanted to host a dinner for a long time, and that, unbelievably, they picked him for the honor.  Still, in gentlemanly fashion, Lividini did take a great deal of pride in knowing that his charitable work has helped many, many people, noting that whenever anyone calls upon him or the Brewer's staff, they "try to help out as much as possible," he said.

I have had the pleasure of working with Tony at one of the Brewer Yards and I must say describing him in superlatives would be the only way to describe him. He is truely a remarkable, humble person that has been a significant help to me at my job at Brewer Cove Haven Marina. The chamber has made a great choice in honoring Tony.
