ConEd: Westchester Power Restorations Continue
Con Edison restored electricity to almost 46,700 customers since Friday's storm.
Con Edison crews continue repairing power lines and equipment for Westchester County customers affected by last week's snowstorm, and have restored electricity to almost 46,700 customers, the company reported this morning.
About 50,200 customers were left without electricity during the storm. As of 8 a.m. today, Con Edison said, 3,500 Westchester customers remain without power. Many of these cases involve downed power lines serving only one customer and New Castle, Yorktown Heights, Briarcliff Manor and Cortlandt have the largest remaining outages.
If you are without power, but have not reported a loss of service, Con Edison urges you to call 1-800-75CONED (1-800-752-6633). You should not assume the company knows of your outage.
Other Con Edison recommendations, as per their report:
Customers can also report power interruptions or service problems, as well as view service restoration information online at www.conEd.com, and on their cell phones and PDAs. When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power.
Safety remains an especially important concern. Treat all downed wires down as if they are live and dangerous. Be careful of power lines that may be hidden under snow, tree branches or other debris.
Con Edison is in contact with local and municipal officials, as well as the appropriate Office of Emergency Services to keep them apprised of all restoration efforts.
