Clang, Clang, Clang Goes the Trolley: Ride Through Larchmont This Weekend
The Larchmont Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a trolley to shuttle shoppers through town this weekend, Dec. 17-18.
For those of us still making our lists and checking them twice, time is of the essence as the countdown to Christmas begins. Before making that dreaded trip to the mall amid the crowds of crazed shoppers and generic gifts, why not shop locally?
This weekend, Dec. 17-18, the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a trolley to run between the Boston Post Road and Palmer Avenue business districts, making stops in front of the Corner Store on Chatsworth Avenue and Tequila Sunrise on Larchmont Avenue. The cost for the trolley is $1, but will be free for anyone that shows a receipt from a Larchmont business.
All proceeds from the trolley will be donated to a local charity.
“We’d like to get out-of-towners in to shop here and take part in the events we’re offering,” said Cindy Vieira, an administrator for the Chamber and owner of Vieria Organics in Larchmont.
Several stores will be offering specials to kick off the weekend. Starbucks on Palmer Avenue will have a buy one get one holiday beverage special from Dec. 17-20 from 2-5 p.m. Anna Maria’s Italian Restaurant will be offering a two-course prix fixe lunch for $12.95 throughout December and Kenise Barnes Fine Art will offer free delivery and installation as well.
Many stores will be offering free gift wrapping over the weekend including E.B. Barrett, My Essentials, Pink on Palmer and Vieria Organics (free gift bags too). Stores will be open 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday and the trolley will be making stops during this time as well.
“Why go all the way to the mall when you can just shop here,” said Jaine Elkind Eney, deputy mayor of Larchmont.

"The mall" is not "all the way" so far, is arranged for convenient shopping, and is accessible for parking and by public transportation. Next question.
